l Use objects to count upto 8.
Add one more of any object and ask, ‘How many are they now?’

By now children may be able to know that the next number after 8 is 9.

l Show flash card of number 9 and introduce it.
Write the number 9 in the air using your finger and let the children repeat after you.

Show 9 fingers and get children to count them.
l
Get children to form number 9 on the sand.
